The 14th Shanghai International
Automobile Industry Exhibition (AUTO Shanghai),
one of the most impressive and highly regarded industry platforms the
international automotive industry will again open its doors from 21 to 28 April
2011 at Shanghai International Expo Centre.
AUTO Shanghai 2009 is organised by
the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the China Council for
the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Sub-Council and the CCPIT
Automotive Sub-Council. The co-organisers are Shanghai International Exhibition
Company Ltd and IMAG – Internationaler Messe- und Ausstellungsdienst GmbH, the
international division of the Messe München Group.
Only slightly affected by the global
financial crisis, China’s
economy continues to grow; the ongoing urbanization and improved living
standards guarantee the further development of Chinese automotive industry. Due
to the series of government policies stimulating automobile consumption in
early 2009, the domestic automotive market rapidly recovered from the recession
and is showing strong upward momentum. According to the production figures for
2009 China
is now the biggest automobile manufacturing country in the world. In that year
it produced 13.8 million motor vehicles, which was a rise of 48 percent on
2008.
Founded in 1985 the Shanghai
International Automobile Industry Exhibition (AUTO Shanghai) can look back on 25 years as a
successful and stylish showcase for global automotive enterprises. In the last
edition in 2009 AUTO Shanghai attracted over 1,500 exhibitors from 25 countries
and regions, 918 show cars (including 316 imported and 602 domestic models) and
13 global debut cars. 7,287 reporters (incl. 763 overseas reporters) from more
than 1800 media from 38 regions and countries were present in AUTO Shanghai
2009. More than 600,000 visitors witnessed the success and splendour of AUTO
Shanghai 2009.
Due to the fast growth in the global
automotive industry AUTO Shanghai 2011 will occupy all thirteen indoor
exhibition halls (eleven in 2009) and the outdoor temporary exhibition halls of
SNIEC. Thus the total exhibition space will further expand up to 200,000 sq.m.
April 19 and 20 are set as press
days and are open to the media only. In consideration of the expected high number
of visitors the traditional seven-day exhibition will be extended to eight
days. AUTO Shanghai 2011 is scheduled from 21 to 28 April 2011 (Trade days: 21
– 22 April, Public days: 23 – 28 April 2011).
The theme for AUTO Shanghai 2011 is ‘Innovation
for Tomorrow’. This seizes upon the topical issues for the further development
of the industry such as new energy, new technologies, environmental protection
and sustainability. As well as showcasing the latest automobiles environment-friendly and new energy vehicles will be
highlighted at AUTO Shanghai 2011.
