Comtrans
2011 will open its doors from 13 to 17 September 2011 at Moscow’s
most modern fairground, Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center.
In a country as large as Russia, the challenges facing
transport are many and varied. Over recent years there has been a rapid rise in
the use of trucks and buses in this, one of the biggest countries in the world
by territory, and one that encompasses some of the most extreme climate zones.
The Russian Federation
and the other states in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are now
one of the largest markets in the world. In 2008 around 260,000 trucks rolled
off the assembly lines of Russian manufacturers, and a further 23,000 vehicles
were imported, primarily from Europe.
Following the crisis years of 2009/2010, the market is recovering fast: already,
in the first quarter of 2010, a total of 2,000 imported vehicles were sold.
In anticipation of sales figures rapidly regaining the
level of 2007/2008, Comtrans 2011
was included in the calendar of auto shows of the International Organization of
Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA); alternating with the IAA Commercial
Vehicles trade fair in Hannover, its position
as an eastern European trade fair will be further strengthened.
As well as Russian producers such as KAMAZ, GAZ GROUP
and ZIL, all the main European brands will be present, including names like
VOLVO, SCANIA, MERCEDES; MAN, IVECO and RENAULT and locally assembled
lightweight series from FIAT and MITSUBISHI. The challenges of increasing
localisation in production are an excellent reason for manufacturers of
components and assemblies to take part in Comtrans
2011. Suppliers from Germany,
Italy, France, Spain,
Korea and China are
finding through Comtrans new ways to
enter the diversifying Russian market.
