The seventh edition of the Seoul Motor Show came to a
close on 12 April 2009.
The industry show which opened under the theme of
'Beautiful Technology – Wonderful Design' ended with success. A total of 158
exhibitors from nine countries showcased a wide range of exhibits including
passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, auto parts and accessories.
Despite the world-wide economic downturn European carmakers such as VW, Audi,
Mercedes and Ford showed their new models and technologies.
The official German pavilion was the only national
pavilion exhibiting at the Seoul Motor Show 2009. Nine German companies from
the automotive suppliers sector joined the official participation and showcased
state-of-the-art automotive technology from Germany.
With a total of 23 premiere models at the Seoul Motor Show 2009 and nine
world premiere models it shows the strength of the Korean automotive industry
and its ongoing research and development effort even during the economic
downturn. In addition, five new models were presented for the first time in
Asia, nine new models for the first time in Korea.
Many of the new models were eco-friendly, highly efficient, economic,
energy-saving cars, hybrid cars, fuel cell cars and electric cars. These new
models were expected to spark consumers' interest in 'green cars'. The display
of eco-friendly green cars tripled this year to 31 models, reflecting the
global interest in eco-friendly cars and the future trend in automobiles.
During the whole period of the exhibition 956,650
visitors and 5,600 buyers came to visit Seoul Motor Show 2009. 1,050
journalists reported worldwide on this important automotive event.
In order to add uniqueness to the dynamic Seoul Motor
Show 2009 the organizers had prepared a variety of formal events. In particular
a range of automobile-related international seminars were held during the
exhibition.
