The 5th Vietnam Motor Show will be held at the modern
Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center from 20 to 24 November 2009. (The
exhibition alternates between Hanoi in even
years and Saigon in odd years.)
Vietnam Motor Show is organized by VAMA – Vietnam
Automobile Manufacturer's Association and ATFA – Asia Trade Fair & Business
Promotion. IMAG is the international promotion partner and responsible for
marketing the fair worldwide.
In 2008 the twelve VAMA members and 27 auto parts
suppliers participated in Vietnam Motor Show. In 2004 the exhibition was open
for the first time for auto parts supplier. The show had grown to become the
leading automotive exhibition in Vietnam. 94,170 visitors from over
thirteen countries visited the show, a figure that reflects the importance of
the show not only for the Vietnamese market, but also for the whole Asian
market.
In spite of
the current economic crisis, it is predicted
that Vietnam will
become a leading market in Southeast Asia. In
the long term the market is expected to grow considerably, thanks to the
country´s sizeable population of 85 million.
Volkswagen,
for example, recognized the good conditions in Vietnam a long time ago and plans
to build up its own capacities in the coming years. The company´s strategic
plans include a joint venture with the Shipbuilding Industry Group to set up an
assembly plant in Haiphong.
This investment of around US$120 million will help Volkswagen achieve its
ambitious aim of becoming the biggest car manufacturer in the world by 2018.
The car
manufacturers which have plants in Vietnam are interested in
increasing the number of Vietnam-made components they use. Honda, for example,
is aiming to increase from 20 to 40 percent; the average for car plants in Vietnam
is 10 percent. This development presents international suppliers with an
opportunity to break into the Asian market, by setting up operations in Vietnam.
Vietnam
is increasingly becoming a good location for auto parts suppliers. The growing
interest from international manufacturers in Vietnam
and easy fast access to all Asian countries makes Vietnam the perfect place from
which to cater for demand on the Asian market.
Vietnam
Motor Show will showcase the latest technologies, products and attractions from
Vietnam
and leading international manufacturing, assembling and trading companies.
