Seoul Motor Show Postshow Report


The sixth edition of the Seoul Motor Show 2007 came to a close on 15 April 2007.

The industry show which opened under the theme of ‘Creation of the Imagination – A New World is Coming!’ ended with a great success. A total of 188 exhibitors from 11 countries showcased a wide range of exhibits including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, auto parts and accessories. For the first time the total size of booths set for car makers overseas was larger than that for domestic auto makers (14,400 sq.m. vs. 14,370 sq.m.). Germany ranked with 27 companies before the United States (20 companies), UK and Japan (6 companies), Sweden (4 companies) and France, India, China, Russia and Australia (1 participant each).

The official German pavilion was the first national pavilion exhibiting at the Seoul Motor Show 2007. Thirteen German companies from the automotive suppliers sector joined the official participation and showcased German state-of-the-art automotive technology.

A total of 29 new car models manufactured by domestic and foreign automakers were premiered; 5 new cars from Korean car manufacturers Hyundai, Kia Motors and Ssangyong made their world premiere. 17 concept cars and 10 environment-friendly cars were displayed during Seoul Motor Show 2007. In addition 12 crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) and 24 diesel cars were also exhibited, thereby showing the latest trend in the automotive industry. Among other participants were auto-parts makers such as Hyundai Mobil, Siemens VDO Automotive, Robert Bosch and Delphi, all of whom introduced cutting-edge parts for futuristic vehicles.

During the whole exhibition period 992,000 visitors and 9,831 buyers from 34 countries came to visit Seoul Motor Show 2007.

In order to add uniqueness to the dynamic Seoul Motor Show 2007 the organizers had prepared a variety of formal events. Particularly, automobile-related international seminars were held during the exhibition. The seminars included ‘International Seminar on Automobile Designs’, ‘International Forum on Automotive Industry of Korea –China-Japan’, the ‘Telematics Forum’ and the ‘International Seminar on Environmental Technology’.
