The Bus and Special Vehicle Expo is scheduled to take
place from 11 to 14 March 2009 at the modern exhibition venue Bangalore
International Exhibition Centre. The first international exhibition and
conference on bus and commercial vehicles will be jointly organized by the
Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Society of Indian Automobile
Manufacturers (SIAM) and IMAG as an international co-organizer.
The Indian automotive industry has witnessed an
unprecedented boom in recent years. Due to rising demand from the Indian
transportation sector the commercial-vehicle segment is one of the powerhouses
of the Indian automobile industry. In the period from 2000 to 2007 the market
for commercial vehicles more than tripled to 480,000 units. In 2008 the
production of commercial vehicles over 3.5 t will be around 305,000 units,
which is 45 percent above the figure for 2005. Around 285,000 units will be
sold on the national market, which means a rise of 43 percent compared to 2005.
Thus India is one of the most important growth markets for the global
commercial-vehicle industry.
The first
Bus & Special Vehicles Expo aims to showcase the latest products,
techniques and technological advancements with a special focus on the following
sectors: buses, commercial vehicles and trucks, special vehicles, components
& accessories and body structures. The event is recognised by many
international companies as a gateway to the large Indian market. Trade visitors
seeking information on current themes in the commercial-vehicle industry are
also attracted by the high-ranking trade seminars and symposia that accompany
the event.
