The first pavilion at the Crocus Expo International
Exhibition Center was officially inaugurated on 18 March 2004. This opening was
the main event of the year in the exhibition industry, attracting great
attention from state officials, the media and business representatives.
The Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center was
designed and constructed using modern building materials in accordance with the
highest international architectural standards. Its core business is the holding
of large international exhibitions of different profiles, participated in by
Russian and foreign companies.
The Board of Directors of the International
Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) decided to include Crocus Expo IEC in
the list of members of this authoritative organization starting from 2008. The
association incorporates more than 150 of the largest congress centres
worldwide. Membership in AIPC serves as a quality mark testifying that services
rendered by an exhibition and congress centre accord with the latest
international standards.
Much prominence is given to the exhibition centre by
organizations coordinating the development of exhibition activity. The CROCUS
INTERNATIONAL company, which runs the centre, is a member of the Russian Union
of Exhibitions and Fairs, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the
Guild of Exhibition and Fair Organizations at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce
and Industry.
At present Crocus Expo is one largest and most promising exhibition grounds in
Russia. There are nineteen exhibition halls divided between its three pavilions
(pavilion 1, four halls, 28,150 sq.m.; pavilion 2, seven halls, 61,000 sq.m.;
pavilion 3, eight halls, 450,000 sq.m.), all equipped according to the latest
international standards. Also there are 49 conference halls (pavilions 1, 2 and
3), each with all the necessary facilities for holding exhibition and congress
events, presentations and seminars, plus a modern concert hall – the Crocus
City Hall – with seating capacity for 6000, and VIP-class meeting rooms.
Pavilion 3 at the exhibition centre, with a total
exhibition space exceeding 450,000 sq.m., opened its doors in August 2007.
For
the convenience of visitors there is a covered passageway between the pavilions
of the exhibition centre equipped with travelators ('speedwalks') that save
time when attending expositions which cover the whole showground site.
Crocus
Expo can be easily reached by metro (the nearest metro stations are
Tushinskaya, Planernaya, Molodezhnaya and Strogino) and by car. The exhibition
centre is situated outside the Moscow Ring Road (65-66 km) which is very
convenient for access by both heavy-duty vehicles and cars. In the near future,
after the construction of a roundabout, car owners will be able to drive up to
it from the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road.
The Crocus Expo centre also benefits from free parking in front of the centre
for 26,000 cars, which is very much appreciated by organizers, participants and
visitors.
Moreover, during exhibitions the Crocus Expo transport department provides a
shuttle-bus service for visitors from the metro stations Tushinskaya,
Planernaya and Strogino to and from the exhibition centre.
